Cultural Equipment Design

Our Verne Reimer Architecture team is presently working with Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq /Kitikmeot Heritage Society on a pilot net-zero targeted cultural workspace with the intent to build cultural and language revitalization. The Kuugalak Cultural Campus is located in Cambridge Bay NU. The workspace is being built by 100% Inuit owned and local companies to ensure its long term sustainability. The work by VRA’s Indigenous Studio on this unique project is connected to an important case study in how Indigenous knowledge can be partnered with modern materials and technologies to innovate at the intersection of architectural design, energy sustainability and cultural/artistic production in the Canadian Arctic.
