Located at 212 Oak Avenue in Grunthal, Manitoba, the Green Valley School Gym Addition and Renovation project consists of a new addition (1532 m2 / 16,490 ft2) and renovations to select areas within the existing school (665 m2 / 7,158 ft2).
New Addition to include a gymnasium with change rooms, an integrated fitness facility, 3 classrooms and ancillary spaces. Existing school renovations to include 2 New Science Rooms, a Performing Arts space (at former gymnasium), structural roof reinforcement to existing classrooms and new interior barrier-free ramp to connect existing school to new addition. The new addition will also include new mechanical equipment & service components to serve the area.
Site revisions to include a new fire lane to access site from the South (off Southwood Avenue), a new gravel parking lot on Northeast area of site, electrical rough-in for 6 future EV stations at existing west parking lot, and regrading complete with new trees, shrubs & sod around the new addition and at select areas of the site.
New addition to be constructed with exterior CMU cavity walls combining brick masonry & composite metal cladding. It will be built over a new crawlspace and have access to the existing crawlspace. Gymnasium to have upper clerestory windows at North wall to allow for indirect natural light. The integrated fitness facility at West end of gymnasium breaks down the scale of the addition and provides a secondary entry point to the building.
